6 Things to Expect From the Upcoming Samsung Galaxy S24 Series

Galaxy S is one of Samsung’s most premium smartphone series that goes up against flagships from other brands. The S23 model is the latest in this series, with advanced technology and several handy features. However, fans can’t help but look ahead at what’s coming up next, particularly the Samsung Galaxy S24 lineup, which might be released early next year. Here are a few things one could expect from the S24.

1. Early release date
The upcoming S24 series will arrive in the first quarter of 2024 at a possible Galaxy Unpacked event. It’s hard to predict the exact launch date, but, like the previous Galaxy S series model, many expect the phone to debut on February 1. That said, some rumors suggest Samsung may bring the launch forward by about a month, meaning we could see it in January 2024. As for the pricing, that bit still hasn’t been determined yet. However, based on the current trends of the S series, fans can expect price points of around $800, $1,000, and $1,200 for different storage variants.

2. Improved display
Samsung creates some of the most beautiful smartphone displays, and fans expect nothing less from the upcoming series. The base Samsung Galaxy S24 will probably feature a 6.1-inch standard display, while the Galaxy S24 Plus and S24 Ultra may have a 6.6-inch display. According to some rumors, the S24 Plus might even get a slightly larger screen, which could significantly impact its feature-rich interface.

As for the display quality, we may see AMOLED panels and a 120 Hz max refresh rate on every model. However, the minimum refresh rates of the Samsung Galaxy S24 and S24 Plus may go down to 48 Hz, while that of the S24 Ultra could drop as low as 1 Hz. That said, the base variants could get fully adaptive refresh rates. Other display rumors suggest select devices from the S24 series might get a much higher peak brightness (as high as 2,800 nits).

3. Potential redesign
Some rumors indicate the Samsung S24 Ultra might come with titanium sides, which are more durable and can handle falls and damage better. We may continue to see the popular curved corners and flat sides on the Galaxy S24 and S24 Plus. The S24 Ultra may have curved edges and right-angled corners.

4. Upgraded performance
One of the significant changes that might make its way into the Samsung S24 series is a Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chip. This chip may offer more power than its predecessor by combining prime, performance, and efficiency cores while staying efficient. Other reports suggest the Galaxy S24 may receive a massive graphics boost in the form of a GPU that’s 50% faster than its predecessors. Consequently, it may overtake its competitors as far as running games and other performance-oriented apps are concerned. We may even see the latest Snapdragon silicon in the Ultra model.

As for the RAM, some claim the Samsung Galaxy S24 and S24 Plus will offer 12 GB instead of the 8 GB available in its older siblings. However, an additional price might be involved when one picks extra RAM. Those interested in the flagship Samsung S24 Ultra should know that it might offer 16 GB of RAM.

5. Better battery life and charging speeds
The battery life of the upcoming S24 series might see significant upgrades. Samsung may reportedly use a stacked battery in the S24 and S24 Plus, which could help boost energy density by about 10% without increasing the phone’s size. We could also expect the base Galaxy S24 to come with 24W charging, while the Plus and Ultra models might offer 45W charging.

The Samsung Galaxy S24 and S24 Plus might come with a 50 MP camera, a 12 MP ultrawide camera, and a 10 MP 3x telephoto lens on the rear. Their front might feature the 12 MP selfie camera users get with the S23 models. Rumors suggest the Ultra’s camera sensor might see a bump in size by an inch, making it one of the largest on the market. There might also be changes to its 10 MP telephoto cameras.
